REMINDER
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

Why Does He Let Them Get Away With It?

God is so faithful and kind!

Last night I got a call from my 10 year old daughter and she was so discouraged. She's being set upon by a variety of hard circumstances and she just can't win. It was getting the better of her.

I tried to get her to look toward God, but I could tell she didn't want to hear it. (I know how that feels.) So I simply tried to listen to her and let her know how how much I love her. I badly wanted to take her hurt away, but that wasn't one of my options.

Later I asked God, "What should I have said or done to help her?"

This morning, before I'd even started my day, I was led to Psalm 73. I loved it! A Psalm for the times when it seems like evil is winning!

Verses 1 - 12 seems to echo the cry of my sometimes broken heart: "They're winning! They're getting away with it! Look at how good they're doing and they're defying you, God!"

Verses 13 - 14 echos the times I maintain a straight face, but am whining like a 3 year old child inside: "I'm doing what I'm supposed to! God, what's going on?!"

and then those two wonderful verses, 16 and 17:

When I tried to understand all this,
it was oppressive to me
till I entered the sanctuary of God
;
then I understood their final destiny.
- Psalm 73:16-17 NIV

Yeah, that'll preach...

Need some encouragement today?
Need some admonishment against voicing that discouragement?
Need a look at the big picture?

Open His Word and take a walk through Psalm 73. Approach the throne... enter the sanctuary... talk to Him... Your oppression will be lifted!

Thank you Lord! Your Word is so wonderful!

Pretty much a sinner through and through. I have two daughters and a son. God has blessed me over and over on a scale that defies any relationship to my faithfulness to Him. I'm just trying to do right by the people I know and love more of them better, (while practicing hard at being a grumpy old man.)
