Llamas

Many years ago I got a greeting card from a friend who knew me very, very well. On the front it had a drawing of two Llamas and the cover read:

Two Llamas walk into a bar.

The bartender asks, "What'll you have?"

The first Llama says, "I'll have a beer."

The bartender turns to the second Llama and says, "How about you?"

The second Llama says, "Not thirsty."

You open the card and there's a cartoon of the bartender drying a clean glass and looking at you with a bored expression. The text says,

"Llamas. Go figure."

I've always thought that was the funniest card I've ever read. It just tickles me to pieces. And no one else I know thinks it's funny, except my friend who knew me. I lost that friend many years ago and have always missed her.

I've only had one other friend who has ever known me that well.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.
