REMINDER
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

Romans 8:28-39

You've Just Got to Love Chapter Eight of Romans.
Here's a taste:

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

  1. I am just getting caught up on my reading and, wow, you've had a run of really good posts the last few days. I, too, love Romans 8. My first real introduction to it was about five years into my walk with the Lord. It was my birthday and we were in a tight spot so I knew there would be no presents. Being in my 30's it shouldn't have mattered, but for some reason it did. At that time I was reading through the Bible a chapter at a time and Romans 8 was the chapter for that day. As I read during my morning quiet time, God opened Romans 8 up in a way that ministered to me so powerfully that I spent the rest of the morning copying the words of the entire chapter in longhand whenever I was free from my chores for a few minutes at a time. At the end of the day I taped the handwritten copy to the pantry door where it stayed for a year to be marveled at every time I was in the kitchen. God is so good. Thanks for the reminder.

Pretty much a sinner through and through. I have two daughters and a son. God has blessed me over and over on a scale that defies any relationship to my faithfulness to Him. I'm just trying to do right by the people I know and love more of them better, (while practicing hard at being a grumpy old man.)
